What future holds for China with regard to creativity Empty What future holds for China with regard to creativity

This article is definitely throwing one real issue to all the countries, not only USA: we are losing our creativity. If it is true, it will be a disaster for every one country given we can not stop it from inching down.

To our happiness, the article delivers a clear message with some substantial evidences: creativity can be learned and science can help. Under the circumstances, the only problem in front of us is that how we implement the steps to lead the elusive muse right to the door but not just pray for a muse to drop by our houses.

To be honest, I am not confident to say that China is more creative than others at this point of time. But, I can say China has well realized the importance of innovation for the prosperity of our country and is making efforts to become more creative.

There is no doubt that the younger generation has the future of China in their hands. What future holds for China with regard to creativity is determined by how hard we are working to help our next generation to learn to be creative. To achieve this goal, actually, China is struggling top-to-down to transform our education from drill-and-kill teaching style to problem-solving learning approach. It is the so-called creativity education.

When it comes to problem-solving, it is inevitable to get out-of-box thinking involved. Just as Einstein said, “without changing our pattern of thought, we will not be able to solve the problems we have created with our current pattern of thought.” However, it is not enough that we bear this in mind. We have to apply it to the daily education in school. According to my wife (she is a teacher in one middle school), there is actually no one good model to follow to guide our children to creative thinking. We think about creativity more but do less.

Another problem we are facing when we conduct our creativity-oriented teaching style is how to evaluate the results. We have no good tool to do it. In fact, we are assessing the performance of one school still by the scores and the number of students who are admitted by famous high school or well-known universities. This measuring means let no one teacher have the students learn about creativity without paying attention to score. It is not hard to understand that creativity can not lead to immediate score increase.

If we can not implement any actions immediately but only shout slogan on the mouth, and if we can not set up one suitable mechanism to evaluate the performance of different school, we will fail our creativity-oriented education and the next generations are not able to think out of the box. If it really happens, no one knows what future holds for China with regard to creativity.
